The Guiffre standard

When you hire Guiffre’s, you get the Guiffres. Bob and Bobby work every project side by side — so the standard Bob has built over 37 years is the standard on your walls.

The people who care most about the Guiffre name are the ones holding the brushes.

Meet Bob & Bobby

How we work

Careful work, done in order.

Great paint jobs aren’t magic. They come from doing the unglamorous parts properly, every time.

  1. 01

    The family is on site

Bob and Bobby are on every project, side by side. You’ll always know who is in your home and who is accountable for the result.

  2. 02

    Prep before paint

Paint is only as good as what it’s stuck to. Cleaning, scraping, sanding, filling, caulking and priming come before any finish coat.

  3. 03

    Clean lines, clean house

Crisp edges where wall meets trim, protected floors and furniture, and a tidy work area at the end of every day.

  4. 04

    Straight answers

A clear scope before work begins, honest advice about what your home does and doesn’t need, and a final walkthrough together.

  4. 04

    Paint

Even coats, crisp lines and a consistent finish — with Bob and Bobby on the job.

  5. 05

    Final walkthrough

We walk the finished work with you and take care of any touch-ups.

The paint

Faithful to Sherwin-Williams.

Guiffre’s paints with Sherwin-Williams, inside and out. Sticking with one paint maker means knowing its products well — which primer suits a surface, how each finish goes on, and what holds up through Michigan’s seasons.

  • Real colors, by name and number. Choose from the full Sherwin-Williams color library — every swatch in our Color Studio is one.
  • The right product for each surface. Walls, trim, siding and doors each get a Sherwin-Williams paint suited to the job.
  • Easy touch-ups later. Keep your color names, numbers and sheens on file, and a touch-up years from now is simple.

Our family

A trade handed down on the job.

Bob Guiffre has spent more than 37 years painting homes — more than 1,800 of them across Grosse Pointe and Metro Detroit. Experience like that can’t be written into a manual. It’s passed on the way the trade always has been: side by side, project after project.

Today Bobby works beside his father on every job. For you, that means two Guiffres on site, one standard of work, and a family name that has to be earned again at every house.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

The things homeowners ask most. More in our full FAQ.

Who will actually be painting my home?

Bob Guiffre and his son, Bobby. They work every project side by side, so you’ll know exactly who is in your home — and the family name on the company is on the work.

What areas do you serve?

All five Grosse Pointes — Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Shores — and homes across Metro Detroit. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our area, just tell us where the home is in your estimate request.

What paint do you use?

Sherwin-Williams. Guiffre’s is faithful to Sherwin-Williams paint, inside and out. We’ll talk through which Sherwin-Williams product and sheen suit each surface, and you can choose any color from the Sherwin-Williams color library — or start sketching in our Color Studio, where every swatch is a Sherwin-Williams color.

How do I get an estimate?

Start with the estimate form — a few questions about your home and what you’d like painted. We’ll follow up to talk it through and set a time to see the home, because an accurate estimate depends on the condition of the surfaces, not just the square footage.

How much does it cost to paint a house?

It depends on the size of the home, the condition of the surfaces, how much preparation they need, the number of colors, and access — height, landscaping, stairways. Two houses of the same size can be very different jobs once prep is counted, which is why we look at the home before quoting.

Our guides to exterior and interior painting costs explain the factors, and comparing painting estimates shows what a complete quote should spell out.

Do you repair plaster and drywall?

Yes. Wall and plaster repair — cracks, holes, loose plaster, nail pops, water-damaged areas and skim coats — is part of what we do, usually alongside painting so the repair disappears under the finish. See wall & plaster repair.

How accurate is the Color Studio?

Think of it as a sketchbook. The names and numbers are real Sherwin-Williams colors, but screens vary and paint changes with daylight, so what you see is an approximation. Use the Color Studio to narrow your ideas, then test real samples on your house before you decide.

Let’s talk about your home.

Tell us a little about the project and we’ll be in touch to talk it through and set a time to see it.
