Our processFive steps. No shortcuts.
Here’s what working with Guiffre’s looks like, from the first conversation to the final walkthrough — and what you can do at each step to help the project go smoothly.
-
Conversation & walkthrough
It starts with your estimate request and a conversation about the project. Then we see the home in person: the rooms or sides of the house involved, the condition of the surfaces, and anything that needs extra attention — peeling, stains, cracks, bare wood, old repairs.
This is also when you tell us what matters most. A deadline? A room that has to stay usable? Colors you’re unsure about? The more we know, the better the plan.
-
A clear estimate
You’ll get a scope that says what will be prepared, what will be painted and how — in plain English, so you can compare it with any other quote line by line.
If something isn’t spelled out, ask. A good estimate has nothing to hide.
-
Preparation & protection
Before any finish coat comes the work that makes it last. Floors, furniture and plants are protected. Surfaces are cleaned, loose paint is scraped, edges are sanded smooth, holes and cracks are filled, joints are caulked, and bare or stained areas are primed.
On most jobs, this is where the majority of the care goes — and it’s the part you’ll be glad of years from now.
-
Painting
Sherwin-Williams paint in even coats, applied in the right conditions, with crisp lines where colors and surfaces meet and a consistent sheen from wall to wall.
Bob and Bobby are on the project the whole way through, so you always know who to ask.
-
Final walkthrough
When the work is done, we walk it with you — room by room or side by side — and take care of any touch-ups you point out. Then the drop cloths come up and the house is yours again.
The standards
Behind every step.
The habits that separate a paint job that looks good on the last day from one that still looks good years later.
- Preparation first, always — no finish coat over a surface that isn’t ready.
- The right primer for the surface: bare wood, stains, glossy or chalky paint.
- Paint applied within the manufacturer’s temperature and recoat guidelines.
- Clean, straight lines wherever colors and surfaces meet.
- Work areas protected and tidied at the end of each day.
- The family on site: Bob and Bobby on every project.
FAQ
Planning questions.
How do I get an estimate?
Start with the estimate form — a few questions about your home and what you’d like painted. We’ll follow up to talk it through and set a time to see the home, because an accurate estimate depends on the condition of the surfaces, not just the square footage.
How much does it cost to paint a house?
It depends on the size of the home, the condition of the surfaces, how much preparation they need, the number of colors, and access — height, landscaping, stairways. Two houses of the same size can be very different jobs once prep is counted, which is why we look at the home before quoting.
Our guides to exterior and interior painting costs explain the factors, and comparing painting estimates shows what a complete quote should spell out.
How long does a painting project take?
It depends on the scope — a few rooms is a very different job from a full exterior — and, outside, on the weather. We’ll talk through the expected schedule when we discuss your estimate.
